Presbytery of Utah Diversity and Inclusion Statement
God's love embraces the beautiful diversity of humanity, welcoming all individuals with acceptance and respect. This inherent truth guides our belief in a world where all individuals can flourish as their genuine selves, regardless of any difference in race, religion, skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
The Presbytery of Utah stands firmly against any legislation or action that aims to harm, marginalize, or discriminate against any individual or group based on their identity. We unequivocally affirm the inherent worth and dignity of all people, recognizing their fundamental right to live and participate fully in society without fear or prejudice.
We are deeply concerned about the harmful impact of policies and practices that target specific groups, particularly those who already face significant challenges. Discrimination can lead to negative consequences for mental health, well-being, and opportunity.
Instead, we believe in creating safe and inclusive spaces where everyone feels respected and supported. This includes access to opportunities that contribute to physical and mental well-being, personal growth, and a sense of belonging. Denying individuals access to these opportunities based solely on their identity is unacceptable.
We firmly believe that every individual, regardless of identity, is beautifully and wonderfully made. Therefore, the Presbytery of Utah remains committed to actively opposing discriminatory practices and advocating for the full humanity of all individuals, including those within the LGBTQIA+ community. We remind the wider communities we live in, that God's love knows no bounds, and Jesus calls us to share this message of inclusivity and compassion with the world, promoting justice and understanding for all.
